We have had a fantastic start to Reception. It is lovely to see the children getting to know their new friends, staff and exploring our classroom.
We have been working together to decide our own class rules, talking about why rules are important and how they keep us safe. We also took a vote to decide our Early Years councillors- well done to Isabelle! A big well done to all of the children who put themselves forward; they all gave great speeches as to why they should be school councillors and it was lovely to see the children shaking hands and congratulating each other after the vote.
We have been having lots of fun in our new classroom and garden: exploring, investigating and using our imaginations.
We LOVE dough disco! This is where we have a daily boogie with our dough, using our fingers. It is so much fun and it helps to strengthen and develop the muscles in our hands so that we can become super writers! You could even do your own dough disco at home; all you need is some play dough, your favourite song and your groovy, dancing fingers!
Thank you to those of you that were able to make it to the reading and phonics session. I hope that you found it useful. For those that were unable to attend, I hope that the phonics pack is helpful and if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to ask. Other sessions will take place throughout the year- we will keep you posted and updated via our Early Years newsletter!
Welcome to Nursery!
We have had an amazing first few weeks. Most children are now attending school with a smile on their face and no tears. They have all settled in really well. In nursery we have been discussing what it means to be British. We have created our own class rules and we took a vote to decide which snack we would like during our session. The most popular snack was orange juice and crackers.
Thank you to all the parents who attended our nursery reading presentation! I hope you took away some great ideas that you can use at home to help enhance your child’s learning.
If you have any of the following items in your household we would love to use them in our creation station:
Nursery wish list:
• Egg boxes
• Plastic bottles
• Kitchen roll tubes
• Nuts and bolts
Thank you for your on-going support,
Mrs Hunt, Miss Guy and The Early Years Team.
