Transition Fortnight

Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed their transition into Year 2. The children spent two weeks learning about a range of topical issues, including British Values and writing prayers of reflection.
We also created posters and wrote instructions on how to make key rings which we made for the Summer Fayre.
The children were enthused about our class Dojo system where points mean prizes!
We hope the children have a lovely summer and come back to school in September refreshed and ready to take on the new academic year.

Spring Term 2

This half term Year 2 have been learning about the Titanic. We have loved this topic, it has let us produce some gripping narrative writing!

As part of our link to the community, we participated in Schools Go Smarter. This was a themed walk to school where we thought about the importance of exercise and how to stay safe on the street when out walking.

Dogs Trust also came into school for a visit with one of their four legged friends! We learned about how to behave in a safe and appreciative way around dogs and the value of charitable giving, in line with our British Values.

Autumn Term

In Year 2 we have been exploring what it means to be British in 2016.

We talked about democracy and voted for our new school councillors. We also discussed the Rule of Law and from this, generated our own class rules to make sure everyone is safe and happy.

The week ended with a visit from the Salvation Army (our class charity) who spoke to us about the charity’s values and how these influence the work they do to help those less fortunate.

We created a display in our classroom to show off all the fabulous work we’ve been doing!

Spring Term 1

Year 2 did an amazing job with their Nativity at Christmas. We danced our socks off during our Strictly themed performance.

This half term in Year 2 we have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We’ve written some fantastic adventure stories around this topic and made our own Tudor houses as part of our home learning. Our next topic is the Titanic… All aboard!
