Children start arriving on our KS1 and KS2 playgrounds from around 8:40am; Mr Goodrick our site supervisor is always around at this time and you will spot him easily in his high visibility jacket.
The school day begins at 8:50 am. A monitor will ring the bell and the children line up in their class groups. They wait for the teacher to come on to the yard and escort them into their classrooms.
Upon arriving in their classrooms, the children empty their bags, hang their bags and coats on the pegs in the classroom (all classrooms have their cloakrooms in the classroom) and get ready for registration and the start of their morning session.
During the morning session, children will attend an act of daily Worship and we often invite members of the clergy into school to lead whole school Worship.
Children enjoy a morning playtime of 15 minutes each day, usually from 10.35 - 10.50 am; children in EYFS and KS1 are provided with a piece of fruit and children in KS2 are encouraged to bring a piece of fruit with them to school to enjoy during morning break.
Lunchtime begins at 11.40am for Foundation children, 12.00pm for KS1 and 12.15pm for KS2 children. All children will eat in our dining hall and then enjoy playtime activities.
During the afternoon session children will sometimes have a short afternoon break at the discretion of their class teacher.
The afternoon session finishes at 3.20pm for all children. Parents/carers can collect their children from the EY/KS1 playground so that children are handed over to an adult to ensure their safety. Children in KS2 are escorted to the gate by a member of staff and parents can collect them from there. Please let the teacher know if your child is being collected by another adult. Children will only be able to go home with someone who is known to school or has been authorised by the parent and school have been informed. If parents do not inform a member of staff, the child will remain in school until someone can be contacted to gain permission. We understand this may delay the process and be an inconvenience to the person collecting the child, but safeguarding of children is the highest priority.
EY/KS1/Y3 and Y4 must be collected from school at the end of the day. Y5 and Y6 children may have parents' permission to walk home alone.

30 hours nursery pupils attend our school for the morning and afternoon sessions as outlined above. They are cared for over the lunch period, which is 25 minutes from 11:50am to 12:15pm.
Getting to school
We encourage all children to walk to school - there are lots of benefits: it's healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. We do also have bike racks for those children coming to school on their bikes and scooters. If you need to travel by car, please drive with care and park wisely and courteously.
Absences
If your child is unwell or not coming to school for any reason, you MUST notify the school on the first day of absence. We operate a first day response and parents will be contacted if any child is absent and we have not received a reason by 9.15am. If this is not responded to, there will be a follow up text message reminder issued.
Attendance will be monitored for all children irrespective of whether they are of statutory school age. Parents may receive letters from school with attendance targets if necessary, in line with school policy.
Punctuality
All children are expected to arrive on time each day. We understand there may be occasions where children may be late but please remember, it is very unsettling for your child to arrive in class after a lesson has already started. Punctuality is monitored as part of our attendance management procedures and persistent lateness will result in further action. At St Paul's CE Primary School, punctuality will be monitored for all children irrespective of whether they are of statutory school age.
If for any reason you will be late collecting your child please telephone the school office to advise what alternative arrangements you have made. There is a password system in place so you must ensure the adult collecting your child on your behalf is aware of your password.
