At St. Paul's CE Primary School, The Anti-Bullying Team meet with Miss Mellefont every two weeks.
The Anti-Bullying team are responsible for:
- Raising awareness of bullying across school and our community
- Organising activities for Anti-Bullying week
- Helping our peers who are using our 'Friendship Stops.'

Autumn Term 1 2025
This half term the Anti-Bullying team met to discuss their action plan for 2025-2026. This year the team focused their action plan in-line with working towards the silver Anti-Bullying award, which they hope to achieve by the end of the year. Across school, all classes participated in the KidSafe programme. The programme included content linked to Anti-Bullying and focused on key messages such as "bullying happens several times on purpose" and "telling trusted grown-ups". The team also discussed some ideas for the upcoming Anti-Bullying week in Autumn 2 and what we can do to raise the profile across school.
Autumn Term 2 2025
The Anti-Bullying Team presented a whole-school worship to introduce Anti-Bullying Week 2025. The theme this year was 'Power for Good' and the team wanted to push the message across school by also hosting a poster competition and activities for classes to participate in, for example the toothpaste activity. The Anti-Bullying team met again to discuss their action plan and what they have achieved so far. The team have started focusing on one of their actions by discussing how we can make friendship stops around the yard more prominent and also how we can make our Anti-Bullying team stand out more on the yard so children know who they can speak to.

September Update: Standing Up and Speaking Out!
We’re thrilled to announce that our brand-new Anti-Bullying Team has been chosen! In the coming weeks, they’ll be joining forces with Mrs. Meahan to kick-start the creation of this year’s bold and inspiring action plan. Watch this space—big ideas and positive change are on the way!
October Update: Gearing Up for Anti-Bullying Week!
Our passionate Anti-Bullying Team has been hard at work preparing for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week and it’s shaping up to be powerful! The theme for 2025 is "Choose Respect", and our team is bursting with creative ideas to spread the message across the school. Stay tuned for inspiring activities, thought-provoking discussions, and plenty of ways for everyone to get involved!
November Update: Anti-Bullying Week - A Huge Success!
What an incredible week we had during Anti-Bullying Week! Our fearless Anti-Bullying Team took the lead, delivering a powerful worship session all about understanding bullying and how we can prevent it. Some of our older team members went even further, leading smaller worships in their own classes, sharing how disrespect and unkind words can deeply affect us. And to top it all off, we had a blast wearing our odd socks - showing that we’re all unique and different in our own special ways! What a fantastic week of learning, growing, and celebrating kindness!
December Update: Making Our Presence Known!
The Anti-Bullying Team has been busy finding new ways to make a bigger impact across the school! After a team discussion, we decided to order bright hi-vis vests so we’re easily spotted during break and lunch, making it simpler for students to reach out for support. But that’s not all - our team noticed that the Friendship Stop in the Key Stage 2 yard wasn’t being used to its full potential. After chatting with our site supervisor, we came up with a plan to move the sign above the benches, making it more visible and inviting for everyone to use. We’re all about creating a space where kindness and support are front and centre!
January Update: Tracking Progress & Setting New Goals!
The Anti-Bullying Team kicked off the year with a brilliant idea - creating our very own Anti-Bullying folders to keep track of everything we’ve achieved and what’s still to come. We were thrilled to see that many of our actions are already checked off, but we’re not stopping there. Our goal? The Silver Anti-Bullying Charter Mark! We gathered together, reviewed the council's criteria, and began highlighting all our accomplishments so far. Now, we’re mapping out the next steps on our journey to making our school an even kinder place. Stay tuned-big things are ahead!
February Update: On the Road to Silver!
February has been an exciting month for the Anti-Bullying Team! We’ve come together to map out our plan for achieving the Silver Anti-Bullying status and we’re ready to take it to the next level. Our action plan includes delivering another powerful worship session and creating engaging content for social media to spread awareness throughout our school community. We’re all about making a bigger impact and showing that kindness and respect are always the way forward!
March Update: Leading by Example!
The Anti-Bullying Team continues to shine as positive role models across the school! Whether it's wearing our bright hi-vis vests, keeping an eye on the Friendship Stops, or stepping in to tackle any unkindness, we're always ready to make a difference. Every day, we’re out there promoting kindness, offering support, and ensuring that our school is a safe and welcoming place for everyone. We’re proud to be making an impact and leading by example!
April Update: Lights, Camera, Action!
The Anti-Bullying Team is ready for our big debut! We’ve finalised our script and are all set to start recording an exciting video that will showcase everything we do to tackle bullying in our school. From spreading kindness to standing up for what’s right, this video will highlight the positive changes we’re making. Stay tuned - it’s coming soon to our social media platforms and we can’t wait to share it with everyone!
May Update: We’re Almost There!
The excitement is building - the recording for our Anti-Bullying video is officially complete! We’re now in the final editing stages, with just a few tweaks left before we’re ready to share it with the world. But that’s not all - our action plan has been reviewed and the team has sparked some amazing new ideas that are sure to take our efforts to the next level. Big things are happening and we can't wait to reveal everything we've been working on!
June Update - Healthy Schools Award June was a month to remember for our Anti-Bullying Team! Some of our members had the incredible opportunity to visit Ryhope Junior School for the Healthy School Award celebration and what an amazing day it was! We were absolutely bursting with pride as we stood up to receive our trophy, recognising our school for achieving three different awards – including the prestigious Anti-Bullying Charter Mark! It was a powerful moment that reminded us how all our hard work, kindness campaigns, and efforts to make our school a safer, happier place really do make a difference. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our mission – this award belongs to the whole school community! Let’s keep spreading positivity, standing up for others, and making sure every voice is heard.
July Update As the school year comes to a close, we've taken some time to reflect on all that we've accomplished and what an incredible journey it's been. Being part of the Anti-Bullying Team this year has been both rewarding and inspiring. From leading assemblies to supporting our peers and promoting kindness throughout the school, we've been proud to play a role in building a more respectful, inclusive environment. Together, we're not just making a difference - we're creating a culture of kindness that will last.
2023-2024...
The Anti-Bullying team worked very hard to raise the profile of kindness, acceptence and being a good friend. We ran a poster competition, initiated 'friendship stops' in our play grounds, held an Odd Socks Day and even attended an Anti-Bullying conference! We also secured the Anti-Bullying Charter Mark and are very proud of the important work we have done in school.
Some of our Anti-Bullying team went to an Anti-Bullying conference in November 2023. They shared ideas with lots of other leaders from other schools in Sunderland. They took part in three sessions focusing on restorative justice, what makes a kind friend and discussing topics such as, body image, confidence, respect and resilience.
