Mental Health & Wellbeing

At St Paul's C E Primary School, we place the mental health and well being of our pupils and staff at the heart of everything we do. We believe in celebrating the individuality of each person and recognising that diversity enriches our community. Our bespoke Personal Development curriculum is designed to nurture the unique talents and abilities of every individual, ensuring that each member of our school can flourish whilst feeling supported and valued.

With a dedicated Mental Health and Well being lead and a supportive Senior Leadership Team, we ensure that support is always available for those in need. Our staff undergo regular CPD sessions to enhance their understanding of strategies to assist our learners, empowering them to provide the best possible care for our school community. When we require further expertise, we look to outside agencies to join us in the development of our children, for example Impact Northeast and Autism Outreach.

At St Paul's, we are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where everyone can thrive both academically and holistically. Together, we strive to instil resilience (a key area in our STAR curriculum), compassion, and a positive mindset in all our pupils and staff, promoting a culture of wellbeing that enables each individual to reach their full potential.

The introduction of outdoor zones of play on the playground has ensured that the positive work in classrooms continues into less structured times. Team working abilities and friendships are built upon and good behaviour is fostered, whilst problem solving and creative skills are explored.
